Features & Updates
LEARNING PLANS 2.0
The first version of Learning Plans allowed users to add assumptions, but lacked a clear process for how to execute Learning Plans from start to finish. As a result, overall user engagement for this feature has been low.
In this updated version, we’ve reorganized the process of adding and testing assumptions to make Learning Plans easier to implement. When a user creates a Learning Plan, they’ll be taken through a simple step-by-step process to capture assumptions, prioritize them, add details and assign check-in dates with their team. Users will still be able to add new learnings, files, media and links, and mark their assumptions as “validated” or “invalidated.” Additionally, all existing assumptions in the tool will now live within a Learning Plan.
Adding a more structured approach to Learning Plans should stimulate higher engagement.
CENTRALIZED ANALYTICS REPORTING DASHBOARD
Users (specifically administrators) have had various challenges with Forest’s analytics capabilities. Often relying on external reporting tools, users have created their own dashboards, which has resulted in inconsistent reporting methodologies across innovation groups. Additionally, some administrators have reported that their external tools do not match up with the data they’re seeing in Forest, causing further confusion.
To solve this problem, we’ve created a centralized dashboard that houses all analytics pertaining to ideas, portfolios, campaigns, pages, and users. Administrators will be able to see all of this data in one place, and then filter it by a number of different attributes, making it easier to pull the information they need for analytics reports.
Note: By year end, we’ll be implementing additional reporting features. Administrators will be able to juxtapose reports, comparing data from different time periods to view progress. They’ll also be able to display data on this dashboard in a variety of ways – pie charts, line graphs, etc. – customizing it to suit their reporting needs.
QUICK IDEA REVIEW
It can be challenging to quickly review all ideas within a campaign or portfolio. Previously, idea reviewers had to click in to each idea to view key information about it, resulting in a lot of back and forth clicking between the campaign/portfolio and idea profiles.
Users will now be able to view key details about an idea directly from a campaign or portfolio by clicking the new “Review Ideas” button. This will bring up a modal displaying the idea title, headline, description, details sections, timeline entries, attributes, forces, and team members of the idea within the campaign or portfolio – without navigating to a separate page.
ENHANCED USER EXPERIENCE FEATURES
In addition to these new features, we've also made some enhancements to user management filters, added the ability to change an idea creator, and allow users to search for ideas, campaigns, portfolios, and custom pages on their mobile devices.
- Change Idea Creator: Users will now be able to revise the Idea Creator through the idea editor. This will allow Administrators and the current Idea Creator to assign the original creator of an idea to a different user.
- New User Management Filters: Administrators will now be able to filter for active, archived, and admin users in the user management section of the tool. This feature will also enable users to distinguish between global and workspace administrators.
- Content Search for Mobile: Users will now be able to use the content search feature on all of their mobile devices. Anyone using Forest on their phone or tablet can search for all ideas, campaigns, portfolios, and custom pages they have access to.
