Features & Updates
@Mention User Groups
In a discussion section, users have the ability to @mention individuals within their organization to direct their attention to a conversation or timeline update within a piece of content, triggering a comment-based notification. This feature is designed to encourage users to collaborate and engage with others across multiple key areas within Forest.
As our user base has grown, more clients are using groups to manage large numbers or teams of users. Previously, you could only @mention specific users; in this release, we’ve introduced the ability to @mention groups within an organization. Rather than needing to list out specific group members, each user in the tagged group will get a separate notification. This makes it easy to notify and connect these users within an idea, force, campaign, or portfolio discussion section.

Add User Groups to Evaluations
Our clients use User Groups to associate teams of users to ideas, campaigns, portfolios, and communications pages. However, similar to the issue of tagging groups within content, administrators also lacked the ability to assign User Groups when creating evaluations. Instead, they would have to add users one by one to a list of evaluators, which is cumbersome and time consuming.
Administrators will now be able to select User Groups when creating evaluations, adding all users from that group to the evaluation. Evaluation creators can also customize who from each group gets added to an evaluation with a simple deselect option from the list of users in a specific group.

Expanded Video Embed Options
Many of our clients highlight their innovation projects, initiatives, and programs by embedding high-resolution videos on their Custom Communications Pages. However, users were limited to YouTube and Vimeo as their video source options for embedding.
In this release, we’ve expanded the amount of video sources that can be embedded and displayed on Communications Pages. Users can now embed videos from MS Stream, Loom, Hightail, and other popular video platforms.

Improved Email Notifications
This year, we received feedback from several clients that key information was missing from some of Forest’s email notifications. Specifically, our users found that the email they received didn’t always contain the name of the idea, campaign, portfolio, or evaluation. Some users also found the email notification text itself to be unclear. Users couldn’t always identify where the email notification originated from or what piece of content it was referring to.
To solve this problem, we made several improvements to email notifications to ensure that every email communication to our user base is clear, consistent, and contains all the relevant information related to the piece of content they are getting notified about.

Improved Activity Notifications
There were also some inconsistencies with the in-app notifications feature. Many users reported that the notification / activity bell on the top right corner of the platform was alerting them of irrelevant updates or content that didn’t relate to their own activity within Forest. To improve this feature, we’ve simplified the notifications / activity area so it mirrors key information from email notifications – that way, users are only being notified of updates relevant to the content they are associated with.
